Facebook Welcome to the Sheffield Branch of the Submariners Association Facebook

The Sheffield Branch meetings are normally held on the first Sunday of every other Month at 1200 in The Grapes, 80 Trippet Lane, Sheffield.   S1 4EL.

Our activities include, Memorial Services, Submarine visits, Dinner Dances and other social events with of course the highlight of the year being the Diesel Boat DTS and the Association Annual Reunion. Check on the Events page for the latest information.

Gentlemen, as we are almost halfway through the second year of the Coronavirus pandemic, I thought I would write to you all again to re-iterate my thoughts in my last message to the Branch, that is, I hope that you and your loved ones continue to stay safe and well and are coping with the difficulties caused by the lockdowns we have had to endure.
Things are beginning to ease in respect of restrictions but we all need to remain cautious and not lose sight of the fact that Covid-19 is still very much with us and will, I fear, be with us for some time to come.
Not much has happened in respect of Branch business for obvious reasons, but a small number, me included, still have weekly meetings via Skype. We will, on Sunday 8/8/21, be observing a minute’s silence and partaking of a tot to “Absent Friends” as we always did at midday on the Sunday following the Re-union in Plymouth.
The older members of the Branch decided not to attend this year to be on the safe side but the Branch will be represented by a couple of members. I thank them for representing the Branch but I would ask that they take note of the following Safety Briefing, which would also apply to any gathering of Submariners, particularly where beer and rum are involved (every gathering!)

SAFETY BRIEFING
DO NOT ADD TO THE POPULATION
DO NOT SUBTRACT FROM THE POPULATION
STAY OUT OF HOSPITALS, THE NEWSPAPERS, AND JAIL.
IF YOU DO END UP IN JAIL, ESTABLISH DOMINANCE QUICKLY!

Also, the following applies to anyone who is not a Submariner: KEEP AWAY FROM SUBMARINERS, THEY AIN’T NORMAL!

In conclusion, we are actively looking at re-introducing face to face meetings as soon as possible.  I’m told that The Grapes is open for business and hopefully we can hold a meeting soon, depending on the Covid-19 situation prevailing at the time of course.

Stay safe and well everyone and I look forward to seeing you all soon.
