The Sheffield Branch meetings are normally held on the first Sunday of every other Month at 1200 in The Grapes, 80 Trippet Lane, Sheffield.   S1 4EL.

Our activities include, Memorial Services, Submarine visits, Dinner Dances and other social events with of course the highlight of the year being the Diesel Boat DTS and the Association Annual Reunion. Check on the Events page for the latest information.

As we enter the second Covid-19 lockdown I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and yours all the very best and hope that you are staying safe, well, and in good health in these difficult and dangerous times, and continue to do so.

I, as Branch Chairman, am very much aware of the problems this year has caused, and could continue to cause. I sincerely hope that, despite us not being able to meet regularly for our meetings, and all our social/official events being cancelled, that you don’t become detached from the Branch, drift away, and allow your membership to lapse. There will come a time when “we’ll meet again, don’t know where, don’t know when” (to coin a phrase) and renew our friendships and comradeship that we all hold dear from our service in the Band of Brothers that was and still is, the Submarine Service.

I know that the coming lockdown could cause individuals and families some difficulties with isolation, loneliness, etc. But please be aware that your Branch Committee is still working for you, and I personally, would be happy for anyone to call me if they feel the need for a chat, or for some outside contact, even though it would have to be by phone, Facetime, video call or whatever. I’m sure my Committee colleagues feel the same.

The Branch has an informal Skype meeting every Sunday at 12.00noon. Please feel free to join us, I can assure you it is an excellent way of keeping in touch, with the added bonus of being able to see each other albeit on a computer screen. It certainly makes my week. Occasionally, urgent matters of Branch business are discussed, but these are kept to a minimum. Generally, the meeting is about the usual banter and p**s taking.

Allan Snowden has comprehensive instructions of how to download Skype if you don’t already have it, and how to join our weekly sessions. Skype is FREE by the way! Please feel free to contact Allan for further information.

On another note, congratulations to our two new Life Members. I hope that you all continue to enjoy good health and many more years as Life Members.

In conclusion Gents, thank you for taking the time to read this blurb. Stay safe and well and my very best wishes to you and your loved ones. Keep in touch with each other!
